The injustice wasn't the turning point. What happened next was.
At a dinner that year, I found myself seated beside a senior female executive from our New York headquarter. She saw something in me I had started to doubt. She gave honest advice. She made introductions. She used her position to make mine visible — and changed the trajectory of everything.
